T Ford and the Sunkings

A band that has been (at least) 30 years in the making!

John T Ford, a stalwart of the rock and roll scene just a couple of years (or is that decades) back, has been dragged out of semi retirement and joined up with a very experienced bunch of guys to pay respect to the fabulous music created in the Sun Records era.

Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy Orbison started the ball rolling, and The Sunkings pay tribute to the legacy.

A genuine and authentic rock and roller, John recorded 3 albums as T. Ford and the Boneshakers, two of which were released on Splash records, Rock Rattle and Roll, and Just Keep it Up. The third albums master tapes went up in smoke when the studio burnt down, but the demo tapes were rescued. These have all been dusted off though, and form the basis of the bands set, mixing original songs, with a host of classics from the 50's.

Pete Manzini, from the Fabulous Manzini Brothers had the idea to form the band, initially as a three piece, but it has now expanded to a really tight five man outfit featuring some storming Jerry Lee, Fats Domino style piano from Graham Toone.

Ed Taylor, who formed the original Formula 1 band, The Pitstop Boogie Boys with Eddie Jordan, Leo Sayer, Damon Hill, James Allen and far too many other people to mention, lays down the beat on drums, with Tez Clarke, who must have more guitars than Gibson's factory choppin out the licks.

It's safe to say that this band is developing into one of the UK's best rock and roll acts, so come and catch the band, and get ready for some serious smokin' jumpin and jivin.
